BMW have sold over 40,000 vehicles in Russia in 2012

AutoVesti – BMW Director Friedrich Eichiner has spoken to Wall Street Journal, stating that the company is willing to reduce its dependency on the German market. 60% of automobiles manufactured by BMW are being sold in Germany.

As one may remember, a serious shrinkage had been observed throughout European automobile markets previous year. For this reason, the company intends to strengthen its position in markets outside Europe. Eichiner has added that they are currently carrying out negotiations in order to increase production capacity, however a final decision has not yet been made. According to Eichiner, the existence of a strong demand will be the main factor, making a positive effect on the decision of BMW.

BMW has broken a record by selling 1,845,186 automobiles world-wide in 2012 (including Mini and Rolls Royce). This figure is 10.6% more than the total sales of 2011. The Russian sales of the company also increased by 33.1%, in comparison with the previous year, reaching 40,144 vehicles (including Mini and Rolls Royce). This has so far been the highest sales figure recorded by BMW in Russia.
