Russian truck market grew by 13.4% in 2012

Autostat – The sales of medium and heavy tonnage trucks increased by 13.4% in 2012, in comparison with the previous year, reaching 138,000 vehicles.

3.6% increase took place in the medium tonnage trucks segment (36,000 vehicles). The sales figure of the leader of this segment: GAZ is 12,400 (+5.1%). Hyundai is in the second place with 6800 vehicles (-1.2%). The sales of KamAZ in this segment has declined by 15%, in comparison with the previous year (3370 vehicles). This trio is being followed by Mitsubishi (2000, +88%) and Foton (1850, +122%).

The magnitude of the 16+ tonnes trucks segment reached 102,000 vehicles in 2012 (+17.4%). The old age of the vehicles and the renewal tax being implemented on imported vehicles since September are being shown as the two main factors contributing to the growth in this segment. The truck buying companies have made an extra effort to renew their vehicle fleets before August. KamAZ has sold 31,500 heavy tonnage trucks in 2012 (+1.7%). MAZ occupies the second place (13,700, +16.2%). The Russian and the Belarusian manufacturers are being followed by MAN (8000, +3.3%) and Volvo (8000, +25.2%). Chinese Shaanxi, who multiplied its sales by 2.8 in comparison with the previous year is in the fifth place (7400 vehicles).
