Automobile production in St. Petersburg has increased by 50% in 2012

RusAutoNews.Com – Toyota, GM, Nissan and Hyundai factories established in St. Petersburg have manufactured a total number of 389,300 vehicles in 2012 (+50%), as reported by the Auto-Dealer-SPb. Thereby, St. Petersburg has become the second biggest automotive manufacturing area of the country after Volga region, overtaking Kaluga. The share of the city in the total production of the country is 19.7%. This ratio was 14.8% in 2011.

57% of the 389,300 automobiles manufactured in St. Petersburg in 2012, is formed of Hyundai vehicles. The shares of GM, Nissan and Toyota in the total production are; 24%, 11% and 8% respectively. The factories used their production capacities to the full extent in 2012.

Auto-Dealer-SPb executives predict that the production will increase by 5% in the city, in 2013.

30 out of every 100 foreign brand automobiles in Russia are manufactured in St. Petersburg. This figure was 23.8 in 2011.

The models produced in the city are as follows; Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Infiniti FX, Infiniti M, Toyota Camry, Hyndai Solaris and KIA Rio.
