The total number of automobiles in Russia has reached 36.9 million

Autostat – The total number of vehicles in Russia has grown by 5.1% in 2012, reaching 36.9 million vehicles.

37% of this figure is formed of Lada brand automobiles (13.67 million vehicles). This ratio was 37.6% in 2011. Toyota is the second most popular brand in Russia (3.1 million, +0.4%). The number of Nissan vehicles in the country is 1.5 million (+0.3%).

GAZ occupies the fourth spot in the list (1.4 million, -0.2%). GAZ had discontinued automobile production in 2010. This quartet is being followed by Moskvich, a brand which still exists in the country in great numbers, despite its declining share in total (1.27 million, -0.2%).

The rest of the brands with sales figures above the 1 million vehicles mark in Russia are as follows; Chevrolet – 1.2 million, +0.4%; Ford – 1.08 million, +0.2% and Hyundai – 1.03 million, +0.4%). The number of Volkswagen vehicles in the country is 970,000, on the other hand (+0.4%).
