Moscow is the biggest regional foreign vehicle market in Russia

Avtostat – According to Avtostat data, 2.24 million new foreign brand vehicles have been sold in Russia in 2012 (+16.8%).

The Central Federal Region has become the area, with the largest sales figure, following the sales of 937,200 vehicles. Despite the fact that the number of sales in the region has increased by 11.9% in comparison with the previous year, the share of the region in the country has fallen to 41.9% from 43.8%. The sales figures within the region indicate that the great majority of transactions has taken place in the city of Moscow. 710,800 foreign brand automobiles have been sold in the capital in 2012 (+7.9%).

414,100 vehicles have been sold in the Volga Federal Region (+22.9%), where 18.5% of the foreign brand vehicle market in Russia belong to. Tatarstan has become the biggest market of the region in 2012 (68,000 vehicles, 18.6%).
The North-Western Federal Region occupies the third place. 264,100 foreign brand vehicles have been sold in the region in 2012 (+10.7%). The countrywide share of the region is 11.8%. The city of St. Petersburg is the leading market of the region (22,700 vehicles).

Northern Caucasia was the region with the fastest growth rate in comparison with the previous year (34,100, +53.9%). However, the share of the region within the country still remains very low (1.5%).

The sales figures of the remaining 4 federal regions according to rates of increase are as follows; Far-East: 16,300, +51.1%; Siberia: 155,800, +26.8%. 9The regional market leaders: Krasnodar Krai (33,700, +29.9%) and Kemerovo Region (32,800, +21.6%); South: 180,000, +22% and Ural: 234,700, +18.9%.
