Avtotor is investing in CKD type production

AutoBusiness Review – According to the statement made by the press office of Kaliningrad based Avtotor Car Factory, the company is getting ready to proceed to the next step in the establishment of the welding shop, with an annual capacity to process 50,000 vehicles. The construction work on the premises, allocated for KIA Cerato bodywork welding, has been completed. Currently, the assisted service networks are being assembled.

It has also been stated that the welding and press equipments, purchased from South Korea for CKD production, have been delivered to the production area. The assembly of the welding line will start in September. The investment amount for the project is around 500 million rubles.

Avtotor has been manufacturing KIA Cerato since February 2013. Cerato will be the second model to be manufactured with CKD method in the factory, after Sorento.
