GM is reconsidering the growth plans at its St. Petersburg factory

Prime – General Motors has announced that the growth plans at St. Petersburg factory are being reconsidered. The company has made the following statement:

“In relation to the current situation of the Russian market and the falling sales since the beginning of the year, we are carefully reconsidering our plans. The reconsideration includes the factory expansion plans.”

CKD production of Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra and SKD production of Chevrolet TrailBlazer are being carried out at St. Petersburg factory currently. The company had plans to increase the production capacity from 98,000 to 230,000 in 2015. The current number of employees at the factory, which operates in two shifts, is approximately 2000 people, including office staff.
