Lifan will commence operations in Lipetsk SEZ in 2017

TASS – The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has approved Lifan’s application for a new passenger car assembly plant in Lipetsk Special Economic Zone. The project design of the facility will be completed in January 2015. The production will start at the factory during the summer of 2017, according to the plans.

Lifan plans to manufacture the following models in Lipetsk: 650, 730, 820 sedan and X40, X50, X55, X60 off-road vehicles. The investment amount for the first phase of the project has been announced as $300 million and the planned annual production capacity as 60,000 automobiles. Lifan had sold 27,000 automobiles in Russia in 2013. The company aims to repeat this figure in 2014.
