Ford Sollers will increase localisation rate to 20% until 2018

RusAutoNews.Com – Automotive manufacturer Ford Sollers has announced plans to increase localisation rate to 60%, until the year 2018. As one may remember, the company is under the obligation to do so, within the frame of the industrial assembly regime agreement signed with the government. Igor Chefanov, the director of the raw material purchasing department of the company, has told during a sectoral conference held in Moscow that the obligation will be met, despite falling sales. Chefanov has added that the current localisation rate is 40%.

Ford Sollers has 70 domestic first grade suppliers in Russia. The number of second and third grade suppliers is over 10.

The company had also announced that an engine factory will be established in Elabuga with a new investment of $274 million, at the end of the year. The engines manufactured at the facility will be used in Focus, EcoSport and Fiesta models, from 2016 onwards.
