57,5% of Russian passenger car park is formed of foreign brand vehicles

Autostat – Analytical agency Autostat has conducted a study of the Russian passenger car park as of January 1, 2016. According to the survey, 57.5% of the total amount of registered automobiles in the country is formed of foreign brand vehicles, which is equivalent to 23.5 million cars.

Japanese manufacturer Toyota has maintained its leadership amongst foreign brands (3.5 million vehicles), having approximately 9% share of the Russian passenger car park. Another Japanese brand Nissan follows Toyota (1.9 million). Korean Hyundai completes the top-three (1.6 million).

Accordingly, the remaining 42.5% of passenger cars belong to home brands. LADA is the undisputed leader amongst the home brands, with a share of almost 34%. There are 13.8 million vehicles manufactured by the plant on Russian roads. One in eleven automobiles registered in Russian traffic belongs to the remaining home brands, which is equivalent to 3.6 million vehicles.
