60% of Russian automobile fleet belongs to foreign brands

Autostat – Analytical agency Autostat has conducted a survey of Russian automobile fleet as of 01 January 2017. According to the results of the survey, 59.1% of country’s passenger car park is formed of foreign brand vehicles, which is equivalent to 26.4 million units. 

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has kept its leadership amongst foreign brands (3.6 million vehicles), with 9% market share. Another Japanese brand Nissan follows the leader (2 million units). Korean Hyundai occupies the third spot with 1.7 million automobiles. American Chevrolet (1.6 million) and French Renault (1.5 million) complete the top-five. 

The rest of the top-ten of the Russian automobile fleet is as follows: KIA (1.5 million), Volkswagen (1.4 million), Ford (1.3 million), Mitsubishi (1.1 million) and Opel (0.9 million). The market shares of foreign brands outside the top-ten are all below the 2% mark.

As reported earlier, the total number of motor vehicles in Russia has amounted to 49.7 million units, as of the turn of the year.
