Kamaz plans to establish a JV with Chinese Weichai Power

Kommersant – Kamaz plans to establish a joint venture with Chinese Weichai Power, for the purpose of engine production in Yaroslavl, according to the protocol of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on investment projects.

The company has not disclosed the parametres of the project, however, specified that it involves engines for machine building purposes, with volumes over 20 litres. As stated by the company, trucks running on gas are currently being equipped with WeichaiPower engines (approximately 1000 units per year).

According to Wikipedia: Weichai Power Co., Ltd is a Chinese state-owned enterprise in Weifang, Shandong province, specialised in the research and development, manufacturing and sale of diesel engines. Its products are used in vehicles, marine vessels and power generators.
