FPI has selected the company for the creation of the Russian flying car

RIA Novosti – A flying automobile will be built in Russia, with the capability of vertical take-off and landing. The vehicle will be created by PromServis company in Moscow Region. The company has won the competition, conducted by the Foundation for Advanced Studies (FPI), as reported by RIA Novosti.

“The competition has been conducted in two stages. A total number of 61 applications were made by Russian companies, from scientific and educational establishments. PromServis company (from Moscow Region) has become the winner of the competition” – RIA Novosti reported.

As stated, the device will be designed to carry cargo and passengers from 100 to 1000 kg. In contrast with drones, the device must have an automatic control system, for vertical take-off and landing on a site limited by obstacles, 50x50m in size. The device with such specifications is expected to be used in rescue operations.

Up to 3 million rubles will be invested in this advanced project, for a period of up to 12 months.

“FPI intends to sign the agreements with the competition winner for the implementation of the aero-project and the decisions will be made thereafter as to the implementation of the project between 2018 and 2020, from FPI funds for scientific and technical projects on the creation of an aerial device with vertical or ultra-short take-off and landing capabilities” – as highlighted by the Foundation.

The Foundation for Advanced Studies FPI was established in 2012 to promote scientific research and development for the defence and the security of the country. The activities are carried out in three main areas: chemical-biological and medical, physical and technical and information.
