Toyota has doubled production in Russia and increased exports by 70%

Vedomosti – Toyota Motor’s production in Russia has more than doubled in Russia within the January-August period of 2017, reaching 44,493 vehicles, as told by a company representative. The growth is mainly due to the appearance of the second crossover model: Toyota RAV4 on the conveyor of the St. Petersburg plant in August, the representative said. 23,017 RAV4 and 21,476 Toyota Camry have been manufactured within the first eight months of 2017. The sales of the aforementioned models have amounted to 59,785 units during the eight months period, according to the Association of European Businesses (AEB) data.

The localisation of RAV4 production and the increase in overseas demand have also contributed to the growth in exports. 3876 Toyota automobiles have been exported to Kazakhstan and Belarus from Russia within the first months of 2017, which is equivalent to a 70% increase, cites the representative of the company. The exports of Toyota St. Petersburg plant have risen by 80% by the end of the first half of the year.
