Hino Motors will start truck production in Moscow Region

RusAutoNews.Com –  According to the press office of the Japanese company Hino Motors Ltd (a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation), Hino Motors and the government of Moscow Region have signed an agreement, proposing the construction of a new truck factory in the region on 9 October. 

Hino plans to open the facility in 2019 and manufacture around 2000 medium and light duty trucks annually. The construction is scheduled to begin in the spring 2018. Production start for the medium duty trucks is mid 2019 and for the light duty trucks is mid 2020.

Approximately 1 billion rubles (1,89 billion yen) will be invested in the project. The capital composition of the plant is 65%Hino Motors Ltd. and 35% Mitsui & Co. Ltd. as stated by the Hino Motors press office.

A plant for large-scale assembly of trucks is planned to be built in the city of Khimki, 15 minutes away from Sheremetyevo International Airport, as part of the project. 3.5, 7.5 and 12 tonnes Hino brand small and medium-tonnage trucks from 300 and 500 series will be assembled at the plant. 

According to the Moscow Region press office, the factory will be established on 5.3 hectares land. The area of the plant and adjacent buildings will be around 12,000 m2. Approximately 50 new jobs will be created as a result of the project. The investment amount is estimated at $17 million.

As stated by the Executive Vice-President of Hino Motors Ltd: Satoru Mori, the company has decided to build the plant in Moscow Region, because there’s a high demand for Hino trucks in the area and a number of highly qualified specialists. “We believe in the great potential of the Russian market, where  our vehicles will be highly demanded” – Mori said.
