Russian suppliers of Ford Sollers have started component exports

RNS – Russian suppliers of Ford Sollers have begun the exports of 47 components to the Ford plant in Romania, where the production of EcoSport started today, as stated by Ford Sollers press office.

The production of a subcompact crossover has started in Craiova – “this will meet the growing demand for SUVs in the world” – the report said. The vehicles were being delivered to Europe from India previously. EcoSport vehicles will be shipped to all European markets from Craiova from now on, apart from Russia.

Ford purchases stamping of body parts, interior elements, glass and seals from Russia. Faurecia from Leningrad Region (door panels), AGC (glass) and Magna from Nizhny Novgorod (spare wheel covers), Saargummi from Yaroslavl (rubber seals), Coskunoz from Tatarstan (stamped body parts) and Peterform from Leningrad Region (stamped body parts) are amongst the Russian suppliers of Ford Sollers.

Ford Sollers has more than 70 local suppliers currently, as told by the company vice-president of procurement: Nikolai Khodosevich. “The interest in Russian supply components in the Romanian plant is due to the logistical proximity of the two countries, the production capacity of Russian suppliers of Ford Sollers that meet the world quality standards, alongside benefits from the devaluation of the ruble” – according to Khodosevich.

EcoSport is being manufactured in Russia, at Naberezhnye Chelny factory in Tatarstan since 2014. Ford crossover sales have increased by more than 30% in Europe in 2016 and by 27% during the first eight months of 2017.
