KAMAZ has invested 3 billion rubles in the new cabin carcass factory

RusAutoNews.Com – As reported by the KAMAZ press office, the cabin carcass factory for the production of K5 generation carcesses is completely ready for equipment installation. KAMAZ has invested around 3 billion rubles (approx. 52 million USD) in the construction of the facility.

As one may remember, KAMAZ and its strategic partner Daimler have started the joint construction of the cabin carcass factory on a total area of 68,000 m2 in March last year. The roles will be divided in the project: KAMAZ being fully responsible for the construction of the plant on its territory and Daimler KAMAZ Rus, together with Daimler AG, will carry out the organisation of production. The Russian automotive giant has already fulfilled its duties: engineering works have been carried out, engineering networks have been completed, the building has been provided with electricity and heating. The entrances to the cabin factory and the site for a construction camp for equipment assemblers are also ready.

Now the next step is the installation of equipment in paint and welding shops, the beginning of which is scheduled for 1 November. Commissioning works will be conducted in March 2018, test production is planned for August and the serial production will start in January 2019. The cabin carcass factory will have an annual production capacity of 55,000 units. The new carcasses will be supplied to both the main assembly line of KAMAZ and for the assembly production of Mercedes-Benz trucks.

As reported by Autostat previously, the new cabins will be installed to the new generation KAMAZ-54901 models, the serial production of which will start in 2019. The company plans to release the new vehicles to the market towards 2020. The new generation vehicles will be equipped with a new inline, 6-cylinders P6 engines, in addition to the new cabins. Beside the cabin carcass factory, a new conveyor has already been prepared for that purpose in KAMAZ engine factory. The company aims to enter the world market with the new vehicles, Europe in particular.
