The cancellation of transport tax for electric cars has been turned down

Kolesa.ru – The State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes has refused to grant transport tax exemption to electric cars owners, as of the beginning of 2018. Such an initiative was taken by the Russian Deputy Minister of Finance Ilya Trunin earlier.

As written in Kolesa.ru portal, the necessity to grant tax exemption to electric car owners, since such transport does not have internal combustion engines is the essence of the government proposal. At the same time, as noted by the head of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes: Andrei Makarov, the transport tax is regional, so that the cabinet’s reasoning is not enough to satisfy the Committee. Makarov has proposed postponement to the amendment, until the introduction of new justification formulations by the government of the Russian Federation.

As became known previously, the demand for electric cars in Russia is planned to be supported by the government. Subsidies, preferential car loans and car leasing programmes are being considered. In addition, the owners of shopping and entertainment centres may be encouraged to install electric stations in their territories via tax incentives.
