Smart electric cars will hit the Russian roads in 2018

Wroom – The official sales of Smart electric cars will start in Russia in 2018. The relevant statement has been made by the press office of Mercedes-Benz Rus to Wroom.ru website.

Smart Electric Drive is equipped with a 60 kW (82 hp) capacity compact synchronous electric engine, located under the trunk floor. The 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery can be recharged from a household power grid and the fuel distance in one charge is specified as 155 km, according to the European NEDC cycle. Smart electric cars have 2-seater and 4-seater versions.

The Russian sales of the vehicle will start in Spring or Summer of 2018 and the prices will be announced at a later date. The minimum cost of electric Smart Fortwo is €22,000 in Germany, which is twice as much as an ordinary automobile, however, the buyers of the vehicles are entitled to a government subsidy of €4400. The basic Smart Fortwo will be sold for 790,000 rubles in Russia.
