Mazda may start the assembly of CX-9 crossover in Vladivostok plant

RNS – Mazda Sollers Manufacturing Rus, the joint venture of Mazda Motor and Sollers in Vladivostok, which manufactures Mazda6 and Mazda CX-5 automobiles, may start the assembly of Mazda CX-9 crossover vehicles, according to Rosstandart documents.

Rosstandart has issued a vehicle type approval certificate for CX-9. The certificate will be valid from 19 February next year, allowing the joint venture to assemble the model in Russia.

The representative from the Russian office of Mazda has declined to comment on the questions from RNS, concerning the possibility of the assembly of yet another model in Vladivostok. The Japanese assembly Mazda CX-9 crossover vehicles are on the Russian market since October 2017. The price of the model starts from 2.89 million rubles.

The Mazda Motor and Sollers joint venture was established in Vladivostok in 2011. The company has been assembling Mazda CX-5 crossovers since October 2012 and Mazda6 sedans since April 2013. The annual assembly capacity is 70,000 units.
