KAMAZ plans to launch autonomous trucks for the transport of components

RusAutoNews.Com – KAMAZ plans to start the usage of autonomous trucks in the transport of components at its Naberezhnye Chelny plant in 2018. The investment in the unmanned transport development project will amount to approximately 500 million rubles this year, as told by the general director of the company Sergei Kogogin to journalists at Sochi Investment Forum.

“We expect to try the unmanned vehicles within our plants this year. However, it’s early for the usage of the vehicles on public roads yet. Everything went according to plan during the test of the unmanned vehicles in Ural, at one of our quarries. We have allocated 500 million rubles on the project. If the amount is not spent within this year, it will be transferred to 2019” – Kogogin said.

KAMAZ has been developing autonomous trucks run by automatic pilots for the last few years.
