Number of industrial robots has risen by 84% in Russian plants in 2017

RNS – The number of industrial robots installed in Russian facilities has risen by 84% year-on-year in 2017, to  658 units. The relevant statement has been made by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

As told by the general secretary of IFR: Gudrun Litzenberger, wider use of robots in the industry will allow the replacement of people, whose work involve high health risks. In addition, robots may help create a series of new professions.

“The problem should be examined at a wider perspective. Industrial robots will replace humans in a number of complicated tasks, especially at risky production processes for people. I’m of the opinion that the introduction of robots will lead to the emergence of new professions. We have great demand for people with specific qualifications today, who would carry out production processes with robot participation. As repeatedly expressed by experts, the shortage of personnel is one of the biggest factors hindering the robotics market, particularly in Russia” – said Gudrun Litzenberger.
