Isuzu Sollers has signed a contract on a technological partnership project

RusAutoNews.Com – As reported by the Sollers press office, the joint venture Isuzu Sollers has signed a special investment contract with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Ulyanovsk Region for the implementation of a technical partnership project in Russia. The partnership will work on the creation of a new joint product in the medium-tonnage trucks segment and exports of the vehicles through the worldwide distribution network of Isuzu.

The total amount of investment in the project exceeds 6 billion rubles, including the 1.3 billion to be spent on research and development. The production within the scope of the joint venture is planned to start in 2021 at the new facilities, which will be built in Ulyanovsk. The localisation rate is expected to go over 80% through the implementation of the project, taking into account the localisation of engines, gearboxes, frames, electronic engine management systems, ADAS systems and other components.

Along with the localisation of the actual nodes and components, local castings and Russian production materials will be used within the framework of the project. In the course of project implementation, the parties intend to make additional investments in new technology, related to the development of gas engine vehicles and hybrid power plants using electric traction, as well as in autonomous control technology and software for telematic services.
