LADA exports up by 64% within the first half of 2018

RusAutoNews.Com  – LADA exports went up by 64% within the January-June period of 2018, to 16,592 units, as stated by the AVTOVAZ press office. 3508 Lada vehicles have been sold in foreign markets in June (+34% year-on-year), which is the best result for the month in the last 3 years.

Kazakhstan and Belarus are the main export markets for AVTOVAZ, where 5854 and 4206 vehicles were sold respectively. Lada is the market leader in Kazakhstan with 22.4% share (up from 17.8%) and runner-up in Belarus with 18.4% (up from 9.4%). AVTOVAZ has entered the Cuban, Chilean and Tunisian markets during the first half of the year. The company makes exports to more than 30 countries in total. Lada 4×4 and Vesta are the most popular export models with approximately 30% share of all exports.

The domestic sales of AVTOVAZ amounted to ten times the exports figure of Lada within the first half of the year – 169,884 vehicles (+21.1%). The company has calculated its share in the Russian market as around 20%. 9% of Lada sales went for exports, as reported by Vedomosti.

“In absolute terms, the export performance of AVTOVAZ is not that great. The company is still in the recovery process from the low base, due to the loss of a key export market: Ukraine in 2014” – as stated by VTB. The company may well maintain such growth rates and export around 40,000 automobiles and components in the second half of 2018, according to VTB. AVTOVAZ has sold 25,000 vehicles abroad in 2017, which is equivalent to 7.4% of the total Lada sales.

AVTOVAZ had exported approximately 70,000 vehicles in 2012-2013 period. If the company retains its efforts to diversify its sales markets, it would be possible to return to such high figures in 2019, according to VTB.
