Dealer networks: leavers and newcomers during the first six months of 2018

Autostat – According to Autostat, the total number of official dealer centres (excluding individual service centres), carrying out sales and services of cars, amount to 3645 in Russia, as of mid-July. This indicates closure of 25 centres since January 2018 (3490 centres).

Significant redistributions have also taken place within the dealer networks themselves. 222 dealership contracts have been signed within the January-July 2018 period, as opposed to 247 terminations.

It’s worth highlighting the name of SsangYong, amongst the brands the dealer network of which shrank, following closure of 42 centres (down by 2.5 times – 31 of which stopped selling new vehicles, turning into service centres). The dealer centre numbers of domestic brands have also gone down. UAZ and Lada have lost 21 and 16 dealers respectively. The dealer networks of Chinese brands have grown, on the other hand: FAW (+19), Hawtai (+17), Geely (+10) and Changan (+7).

The newcomers in the Russian market in 2017 continue to strengthen their foothold. Derways/Hower (+9) and Isuzu (+9) have opened new dealer centres, as well as Foton (+8).
