Driverless cars will be on the roads of Tatarstan

Interfax. – Yandex and the government of Tatarstan have signed an agreement on the creation of a test zone for driverless cars.

As told by the General Director of Yandex Elena Bunina to journalists, two vehicles will be cruising in the city Innopolis, through five landing and drop-off points, located next to key areas in the city. It’s possible to use the driverless cars by applying to the mayor’s office to participate in the experiment. So far, approximately 100 people have applied to take part in the experiment.

Bunina has stated that Yandex started testing the driverless transport actively last year. The vehicle has completed the journey of 800 km between Moscow and Kazan in autonomous mode for the first time this summer.

As expected by the company the driverless cars will be available in public transport, carsharing and taxi services in the near future.
