UAZ will resume automobile deliveries to Cuba


Interfax.- UAZ will resume automobile exports to Cuba, as reported by the press office of the factory.

“We expect to export several hundred SUVs to Cuba annually, following the success in the tests conducted in the country. Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has already started the shipment of the first lot of pickups for the energy industry of the country” – as stated by the exports director of the company Andrei Dorofeev.

Tests were conducted on the models Patriot, Pickup SUVs and Profi light trucks at the Cuban Transport Institute. UAZ is hoping for a mass supply of the modern model range to Cuba for the implementation of joint Russian-Cuban projects.

The serial supply of automobiles has been discussed on 1 March, during the visit of the Cuban ambassador to Russia: Gerardo Penalver Portal to the automobile plant.

UAZ has not disclosed the expected car supply volume to Cuba yet.

As reported by Interfax press office, the company has exported approximately 5000 SUVs last year. According to the statement, 5101 SUVs were exported in 2017, which indicates a 47% year-on-year growth.

According to the press office data, the company has exported more than 30,000 automobiles to Cuba so far.
