Ukraine has banned car imports from Russia

Kolesa.- Ukraine has banned car imports from Russia. The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has made changes to the list of prohibited import goods into the customs territory of the country from the Russian Federation. Russian transport vehicles are now subject to Ukrainian embargo, including cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, tractors and special vehicles like lorries, firefighters and sweepers, concrete mixers, etc.

“The decision has been taken as a measure against the discriminatory and unfriendly actions towards Ukraine by an aggressor state, as well as taking into account the appeals from associations, unions and enterprises from a number of industries” – as stated by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.

As one may remember, apart from the native car brands of Russia: Lada, GAZ and UAZ, other brands manufactured in Russian factories have been on the Ukrainian market for a long time, for example, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Accent, while Renault Logan and some Nissan crossovers came to the neighbouring country directly from Europe. Up until the events of 2014, there was a period when Russian Logan and Nissan Sentra manufactured in Izhevsk were sold in Ukrainian car galleries.
