Urban electric buses from Vologda and Germany have arrived in St Petersburg

Autostat.- New electric buses have been brought to St Petersburg for tests on urban routes: 90 passengers carrying capacity, low-floor Sirius buses from Vologda and the electric version of Mercedes-Benz Conecto from Germany, which has a capacity of 94 to 138 passengers. The new vehicles will operate on urban streets to be evaluated by normal passengers and technical specialists for the duration of a few months.

St Petersburg Passenger Auto Transport conducts such tests each year. The requirements for future transport purchases are formulated through these tests. As one may remember, the Acting Governor of the St Petersburg: Alexander Beglov had announced the city administration’s intention to replace all the bus fleet of St Petersburg with electric buses gradually, in March this year.

The new two-section MAZ buses have passed the tests conducted in Spring 2019 and joint the bus fleet of the city on a permanent basis. If the outcome of the current tests turns out to be successful, Sirius and Conecto buses will also take their places in St Petersburg bus fleet.
