SIMAZ will launch the production of new gas-fuel buses

TASS.- SIMAZ will launch the production of new gas-fuel buses by the end of the year. The relevant statement has been made by the press office of the regional administration.

“We are planning not only to simply buy the technology, but also to produce the methane-powered buses. SIMAZ will launch the production of a new model of a gas operated bus this year. The company will manufacture 300 buses in 2019, increasing the production figure to approximately 700 units in 2020, 80% of which will be running on natural gas” – as stated by the Ulyanovsk Region Minister of Industry and Transport Dmitry Vavilin.

Vavilin has told that the first sample of the gas-fuel buses has been assembled for tests. “The bus has fulfilled all the requirements for certification in September” – Vavilin said.

As told by the Governor of Ulyanovsk Region Sergei Morozov, the works on the usage of gas as a fuel are carried out throughout the region in several directions. According to Morozov, the development of the gas station infrastructure is the first step. Then comes the upgrading of the transport fleet and the shift to natural gas operated vehicles, to be followed by the production of methane-powered vehicles.
