Avtovaz will manufacture Lada Granta in Egypt

Autostat.- Avtovaz will manufacture Lada Granta in Egypt. Attention to the Russian-Egyptian Lada assembly plant has rekindled following a meeting between the Russian president Vladimir Putin and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on October 23.

As noted by the Russian president during the Russia-Africa summit held in Sochi, the relations between the two countries are developing successfully and the trade turnover is growing. Putin has also stated that Moscow and Cairo are cooperating in the implementation of several projects, including the establishment of a Russian industrial zone in Egypt.

According to the managing director of the Lada Export Directorate Max Missana, Avtovaz’s local partner Al-Amal is currently getting ready for the assembly of Lada Granta. Al-Amal has been producing classical Lada models for the local market using the SKD method since 2002.

According to the power distribution between the companies, Al-Amal is responsible for the hiring of personnel at the Egyptian enterprise, along with providing help during negotiations with the Egyptian authorities. Avtovaz, on the other hand, will deal with training and the setting of quality standards. A so-called “resident manager” will represent the Russian side in Egypt, who will be responsible for quality control and communications. However, in general, the production processes in the plant have been brought to automaticity. The assembly car kits will be supplied from Russia and support will be provided for quality control and marketing.
