AVTOVAZ and UAZ do not have plans to change the production schedule due to the Coronavirus outbreak

TASS.- Avtovaz is not planning to revise its production plans due to the outbreak of pneumonia in China caused by the new Coronavirus. The company has created a crisis headquarters, which monitors the situation, as told by the press office of the enterprise.

“The company has no such plans at the moment. The headquarters is assessing the potential risks with the suppliers and working out resolution scenarios. We monitor the situation, working on a schedule” – as stated by the press office.

Avtovaz has previously stated that the company has a sufficient stock of the necessary Chinese make auto components.

With regards to other Russian car manufacturers, Kamaz may amend its production plans in March 2020, if the Coronavirus continues to spread in China and other component manufacturing countries. In addition, the manufacturer may switch to a part-time production mode as of 20 April, in the event of an interruption of components supplies from China.

UAZ, on the other hand, has announced that it has no plans to alter its production scheme due to the outbreak of the virus in China, until the end of February. However, the manufacturer is looking for ways to shift to alternative component suppliers within Russia, in order to overcome potential problems with suppliers.
