More than 63% of the car fleet in Russia is foreign make


 

Autostat.- As of the beginning of 2020, there are 28.2 million foreign brand cars registered in Russia. The figure is equivalent to 63.3% of the car fleet in Russia.

Japanese cars have the highest share in the country amongst overseas manufacturers, with 22.7%. The amount of Korean cars is less than half of the market leader, with an 11.8% share. Germany is close on the heels of Korea with 10.4%.

The top-five in most popular foreign brands rankings is completed by American and French cars (7.4% and 5.5% respectively). Czechia (2%) and China (1.4%) also have significant shares in the market. Cars from other countries form less than 1% of the automobile fleet of the Russian Federation.

Russian cars keep the leadership of the domestic market, according to experts from Autostat. 36.7% of the market belongs to Russian vehicles as of the turn of the year, which is equivalent to 16.4 million units.
