PSMA Rus to stop production due to the interruption in component supplies


 

1prime.- PSMA Rus, JV of PSA and Mitsubishi established in Kaluga region, will suspend car production due to the interruption in component supplies from European factories, as published by the Acting Governor of Kaluga Region Vladislav Shapsha in social media.

As stated previously, in connection with the insufficiency in component supplies from European factories, Volkswagen Group Rus will temporarily stop production at its car factory in Kaluga and suspend contract assembly in Nizhny Novgorod for two weeks, between 30 March – 10 April 2020.

“Due to interruptions in component supplies from European factories, the Kaluga plants of Volkswagen Group Rus and PSMA Rus Group will temporarily stop car production. PSA brand automobiles (Peugeot, Citroen and Opel) will be affected by the decision. The companies will remain in collective holiday periods between 1-5 April and 6-10 April” – wrote Shapsha, adding that the assembly of Mitsubishi automobiles will continue at the enterprises.

“The indicated periods will be qualified as downtime at the enterprises and the employees will be paid in accordance with Russian legislation and the local regulatory acts of companies,” Shapsha emphasised.

PSMA Rus is a joint venture of PSA Peugeot Citroen (70%) and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (30%). According to the investment portal of Kaluga region, the factory has been operating within the territory of Rosva Industrial Park since April 2010. 16 billion rubles have been invested in the project.
