Volkswagen Group Rus celebrates the production of the 600,000th engine


 

RusAutoNewsCom.- As announced by the company press office, Volkswagen Group Rus broke a new record with the production of the 600th engine at the Kaluga plant, after just 5 years of launch of operations. Despite the recent complications due to Covid-19 virus, such a result has been achieved as a result of a high level of productional efficiency and application of modern technological processes, ensuring the production of reliable and high-quality engines.

143,500 units of 1.6 MPI EA211 series engines have been manufactured at Volkswagen Group Rus plant in 2019. The engines manufactured in Kaluga equip three of the most demanded models amongst the Russian clients: Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Rapid and Skoda Octavia. The Kaluga plant manufactures two versions of 1.6 lt MPI series EA211 petrol engines: 90 hp and 110 hp.

The Kaluga production engines are not only supplied to the domestic market, but also shipped to manufacturing sites worldwide. Through a well-adjusted supply chain, Russian-made engines are exported to Germany, Mexico, Spain, Poland and other countries. A total number of 24,000 engines were exported last year.

Volkswagen Group Rus plant is established in Grabtsevo Industrial Zone in Kaluga, 170 km southwest of Moscow. Car and engine production is made within the territory of the enterprise under strict quality control. Comprehensive tests are conducted on the outcome of the factory.
