Ford Sollers will localise the production of multi-leaf springs for Transit

RusAutoNewsCom.- As reported by the Ford Sollers press office, the company continues with its development projects on localisation, the latest one being the multi-leaf springs made from Russian steel in total compliance with the Q1 quality standards. The operation will be carried out for Transit LCVs at Chusovoy Metallurgical Plant (ChMZ) in Perm region, which is a subsidiary of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK) in Moscow.

The vertical localisation of Ford Transit production is one of the development priorities of the company. The process provides for the organisation of the entire production chain in Russia, all the way from the procurement of raw materials to the final components.

The signature of the agreement with ChMZ on the supply of multi-leaf springs for cars has become the newest step in the localisation project of the company. The cooperation between Ford Sollers and ChMZ has started in 2019 with the supply of single-leaf springs. As a result of the quality of production, the plant has been assigned as the supplier of the technically more complex multi-leaf springs. As of August 2020, all Ford Transit springs will be manufactured using Russian resources.

The multi-leaf springs have passed all the stages of assembly tests, the full-cycle test on the dynamic vehicle, as well as the road trials. The results of the tests on the springs have confirmed the compatibility of the components with the global standards and the quality requirements set by Ford Motor Company.
