GAZ Group has developed a bus running on liquefied natural gas

32cars.- GAZ Group has developed the LiAZ 5292 LNG bus, running on liquefied natural gas.

The new model has already passed the certification tests and received Vehicle Type Approval. The new version of the LiAZ 5292 LNG bus has been designed for approximately 106 passengers and maintains all the features of the basic model, such as low-level floor, free storage area and kneeling system.

Gas fuel is filled into a 375-litre cryo tank, which is located in the rear overhang of the bus. The volume of the cryo tank enables the bus to travel more than 300 km in one fuelling.

The storage technology of natural gas in the tank ensures a constant fuel temperature of -160 °C, preventing the effects of the outside weather conditions.

LiAZ 5292 LNG buses are equipped with YaMZ 536 gas engines manufactured also by GAZ Group.

“Natural gas has proven itself as one of the most environmentally friendly types of automobile fuels. High range of travel between fuellings is the main advantage of LNG over other types of gas fuels” – as emphasised by experts.
