Nissan has confirmed the discontinuation of Datsun production in Russia


 

Avtostat.- Nissan has discontinued the production of Datsun automobiles in Russia, which were being manufactured at the facility of Avtovaz in Togliatti. The relevant statement has been made to Autostat by the press office of the Japanese brand, adding the fact that approximately 145.000 Datsun vehicles have been produced in Russia since the release of the brand to the market in September 2014. Nissan expects the remaining Datsun vehicles at the dealer centres to be sold out soon, with no specific deadlines. In the future, the after-sale services and part sales will be carried out through the authorised dealer centres of Nissan and the warranty policies will remain unchanged.

As one may remember, Datsun brand was introduced to the Russian market with on-DO sedans and mi-DO hatchbacks with prices starting from 531,000 and 554,000 rubles respectively. The automobiles are equipped with 87 or 106 hp petrol engines, in the form of either manual or automatic transmission.

As stated by Autostat previously, 13,848 Datsun automobiles have been sold in Russia within the first 11 months of 2020, which indicates a 32% year-on-year decline. Sedan on-DO is the undisputed bestseller of the brand, with more than 85% share of the total sales of the brand.
