GAZ Group has started the production of LNG buses

RusAutoNewsCom.- As reported by the company press office, GAZ Group has launched the mass production of LiAZ-5292 LNG buses at the Likino Bus Plant, belonging to GAZ Group. The gas vehicle range of GAZ Group will be expanded with the buses running on liquified natural gas. The company also manufactures buses and commercial vehicles running on compressed natural gas.

The first seven vehicles have been delivered to Chelyabinsk. The urban low-floor model has become the first large-class bus running on liquified natural gas, the mass production of which took place in Russia. The bus has successfully passed the tests conducted in Chelyabinsk in autumn 2020. In the meantime, tests are currently being applied on LiAZ-5292 LNG buses in St. Petersburg.

LiAZ-5292 LNG is a highly environmentally friendly bus. The model is equipped with the Russian-made YaMZ-536 engine. The liquefied gas is stored in a cryo-tank under a pressure not exceeding 19 atmospheres. The 375 litres volume of the cryo-tank ensures a travel range of 300 km in one charge. The technology used in the bus maintains a constant fuel temperature of -160 ° C and protects the fuel from the effects of the ambient temperature. The fuel tank is located in the rear overhang of the machine, which provides quick and convenient access to maintenance without the need to dismantle the tank.

The new version of the bus is designed to carry 111 passengers and provides all the benefits of the basic model: low floor level, a spacious storage area, a kneeling system. The bus is equipped with a climate control system, USB charging, video surveillance, ERA-GLONASS, electronic route indicators and a scrolling text panel. LiAZ-5292 LNG buses are also installed with a mechanical ramp for the entry of the passengers with limited mobility into the cabin, special seats for a wheelchair and buttons for communicating with the driver.
