The shortage of new cars in Russian dealers is declining

TASS.- The shortage of new cars in Russian dealer centres is on the decline, as told by the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers – ROAD to TASS.

“The shortage of new cars still prevails, however, a recovery in numbers has already started in different segments and manufacturers” – as reported by the press office of the Association.

The shortage of new vehicles in car dealers is being experienced since the end of last August. The insufficient supply is recorded in all brands, including the Russian Lada. As told by the marketing director of Avilon to TASS, the shrinkage in production volumes and supply due to the pandemic is one of the main reasons behind the complicated circumstances. The shortage has also been affecting the second hand car market since the end of October 2020.

ROAD has added that there’s another unsolved problem in Russia: the shortage of chips for automobile electronics. As reported by Kommersant previously, the shortage concerns the microcircuits for ERA-GLONASS systems, tachographs, instrument control panels, engine control units, body electronics and multimedia systems, etc.
