The 250,000th Skoda Rapid has been manufactured in Russia


 

RusAutoNewsCom. As announced by the company press office, Volkswagen Group Rus has manufactured the 250,000th Skoda Rapid compact urban liftback in its Kaluga plant. The anniversary vehicle produced is a Hockey Edition version with a Ruby Red metallic livery.

Petr Šolc, Head of Skoda brand in Russia has commented: “The compact liftback Rapid is rightfully considered one of the most demanded cars on the Russian market. In the first half of 2021, more than 23,000 customers chose this car. We are deeply grateful for the people’s trust, and we are absolutely sure that Rapid will bring comfort into their lives becoming a reliable family member.”

The Czech automaker offers Skoda Rapid with the choice of three four-cylinder petrol engines: two 1.6 MPI engines with the output of 90 and 110 hp and one 1.4 TSI turbocharged engine with the 125 hp output. Customers can choose from Entry, Active, Ambition, and Style configurations offering different equipment packages and additional options, as well as features enhancing comfort.

Rapid full cycle CKD production was localized in Kaluga in February 2014 and is fully compliant with all Volkswagen Group global standards. The latest generation of this compact liftback has been produced since 2020. Furthermore, the Kaluga plant has been manufacturing 1.6 MPI petrol engines, available for Skoda Rapid , among other offers, since 2015.
