Toyota suspends car production in Russia, as well as exports


 

RusAutoNews.- As announced by the company press office, Toyota Motor Russia will stop production at its St Petersburg plant from 4 March and has stopped imports of vehicles, until further notice, due to supply chain disruptions.

As reported by Gazeta ru, “The shipments of Toyota and Lexus automobiles to Russia have currently been suspended until further notice, due to the interruptions in the regional supply chain. The deliveries will resume when the supply chain recovers. We continue monitoring the situation with great focus” – as stated by the company.

The St Petersburg plant of the company commenced operations at the Shushary Industrial Zone in 2007. Camry and RAV4 models are manufactured in the enterprise in full-cycle. The production process includes welding, painting, assembly, stamping of body parts and the production of plastic details.

As became known earlier, Nissan acknowledged the interruptions in operations at the St Petersburg plant and announced the suspension of the shipments of Pathfinder SUVs to Russia. Other Japanese manufacturers, such as Mazda and Honda have also stopped the deliveries of vehicles and components to the Russian Federation temporarily.
