The state will subsidize about half of the costs of businesses and citizens for the conversion of cars from petrol to methane. This resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The new procedure implies a doubling of subsidy standards in 2022; from the current 24% to 48% of the total cost of work. These changes were made to one of the annexes to the state program “Energy Development”, which defines the rules for providing subsidies to citizens, as well as small and medium-sized businesses for the conversion of cars, public transport and municipal equipment to run on gas.

According to the Energy Development State Program, the increase in the consumption of natural gas for cars will be 2.7 billion cubic meters in 2024. At the same time, about 1,300 gas filling stations are to be built in Russia within five years.
