Opel will resume Grandland X and Zafira Life sales in Russia


RNS.- German car manufacturer Opel will resume car sales in Russia, according to the statement made by the company.

The Grandland X crossover and the Zafira Life passenger minibus, which is manufactured in Kaluga, will be available for orders from 16 December onwards.

As stated by the company, Opel Vivaro vans will be put on the Russian market in mid-2020.

“The significant growth of profits as a result of the development of business in foreign markets is of the key factors of our company’s “PACE!” plan. We have achieved great success in this area thanks to our return to Russia. We’ll gradually strengthen our foothold in the country in the coming years, including an expansion to our product range” – as told by the general director of Opel: Michael Lochscheller.

General Motors, the owner of the German company at the time, had announced the discontinuation of Opel sales in Russia in 2015.

On 14 March 2019, the current owner of Opel: PSA Group announced the return of the brand to the Russian market with three models, the sales of which will be launched during the last quarter of the year.
