HYUNDAI St Petersburg plant has manufactured 220,000 automobiles in 2020

RusAutoNewsCom.- As announced by the company press office, Hyundai St Petersburg plant has manufactured more than 219,000 vehicles in 2020, including 54,000 Hyundai Solaris and 75,000 Hyundai Creta.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus has achieved a year-on-year growth in production volumes during the second half of the year. More than 59,000 automobiles have rolled off the conveyor of the St Petersburg plant within the third quarter of 2020, which indicates a 7% increase in comparison with the same period of the previous year and the growth continued in the following quarter, with 70,000 vehicles, exceeding the performance of the October-December period of 2019 by 8%.

“In my opinion, this is a very successful result, concerning the adverse conditions created by the pandemic. Our production levels declined during the second quarter, when the plant operated under its full capacity, alongside the closure of dealer centres. However, we have overperformed in terms of production in the second half of the year, doing our best to meet the high demand in the market” – as told by the Director of Hyundai St Petersburg plant Andrei Kazak.

The plant has also managed to increase automobile exports this year. A total number of more than 20,000 vehicles have been exported to the CIS countries. The figure is equivalent to a 19% year-on-year rise.

Despite various restrictions and the complicated economic circumstances, operations continue at the St. Petersburg plant of Hyundai Motor at a stable pace, making use of full capacity. The company has managed to keep all jobs and avoided pay cuts. The operation process has been organised in compliance with all necessary measures of caution, aimed at ensuring collective safety and the prevention of the spreading of the coronavirus infections.

Hyundai St Petersburg plant plans to manufacture 230,000 automobiles in 2021. The launch of the production of the new generation of Hyundai Creta crossover is also within the plans of the factory for next year.
