AVTOVAZ will launch the assembly of Lada in Uzbekistan over the course of 12 months

TASS.- Avtovaz will launch assembly from Lada and Renault car kits in Uzbekistan within 12 months, as told by the company chairman Nicolas Maure to reporters.

“Cooperation with a local partner, who would make assembly from car kits, seems to be a smart way of developing our presence in the market. We have such a local partner there, with whom we’ll start the aforementioned type of an assembly operation. The assembly will begin with Lada models, to be followed by Renault vehicles within the next 12 months” – Maure said.

According to Maure, the market share of the company in Uzbekistan will remain relatively small, due to the presence and the operations of UzAuto in the local market.

In the meantime, as stated by the chairman, Africa and the Middle East are amongst the export destination targets for the Russian manufacturer.

Commenting on the market shares in other importer countries, the company chairman has added that the target of Avtovaz is minimum 20% for Lada and 5% for Renault in Kazakhstan. The manufacturer does not expect a significant growth in exports volumes to Belarus in 2021.

The export sales of Lada have shrunk by 19% year-on-year in 2020, with 41,000 units. The Russian sales of the company have also gone down by 5% in 2020, with 343,500 vehicles.
