Prime - Car manufacturers KAMAZ and GAZ Group have won the tender for the supply of electric buses to Moscow, each undertaking the production of 100 units, as stated by the mayor of the capital city Sergei Sobyanin.
The administration of Moscow had previously taken the decision to discontinue the purchases of buses with traditional fuels on urban routes as of 2021, replacing them with electric buses. For that purpose, it was decided to buy 300 electric buses per year within the period of 2018-2020 on terms of a life-cycle contract, under provision of maintenance and repair for 15 years. As stated by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Transport and Development of Road and Transport Infrastructure: Maksim Liksutov, the tender for the supply was planned to be held in April this year.
“The largest Russian vehicle manufacturers KAMAZ and GAZ Group have become the winners of the tender to become the suppliers of the electric buses. Each manufacturer will produce 100 electric buses of highest world standards for Mosgortrans with 15 years service guarantee and the install 62 ultra-fast charging stations” - wrote the head of Moscow in his Twitter account.
Sobyanin has noted that the first supply of electric buses is intended for September, to be followed by the same quantity in December.
