The Russian automobile market has a volume of $62 billion

RusAutoNews.Com – According to the survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the volume of the Russian automobile market has grown by 20%, reaching a magnitude of $62 billion, by the end of the first eleven months of 2012. In numerical terms, the market has reached 2,616,000 vehicles (+12%).

The monetary value of the 526,000 (-7%) Russian brand automobiles sold within the January-November period, has been calculated as $62 billion (-2%). The sales of the foreign brand vehicles manufactured in Russia in the same period has reached 1,100,000 (+26%), on the other hand. The monetary value of this sales figure adds up to $25.3 billion (+39%). 890,000 imported automobiles have been sold in the country during the same period (+10%). This segment once again has the biggest share in monetary point of view with $30.5 billion (+12%).

Stanley Root, from the automotive department of PwC, is of the opinion that although the automobile imports have gone down due to the renewal tax, which came into force on 01.09.2012, this decline has not reflected on numbers as yet. According to PwC, the automobile imports have declined by 19% in September-October, following an increase of 15% by the end of the first eight months of the year.

PricewaterhouseCoopers anticipates the 2012 year-end figure for the automobile market as 2,750,000 vehicles (+12%). According to this prediction, the market will take the following shape: 570,000 Russian brands, 1,190,000 foreign brands manufactured in Russia and 990,000 imported automobiles.
