Auto Business Review – The director of Toyota Motor Russia factory: Yesinori Matsunaga has announced that the production of the renewed Camry will start in Russia in November. The rearrangement of the production line of the restyled model will be carried out in Autumn. The new Camry is expected to be put on the market in December.
Toyota had manufactured 35,885 automobiles in Russia in 2013 (+25% y/y). It has been stated that this figure will be maintained in 2014 and the localisation rate will exceed 30%.
The Toyota factory, established in 2007 in Shushary region of St. Petersburg, has an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. The number of employees is 1780. The company has been manufacturing Camry model only, since its establishment. The company aims to double its production capacity by reaching 100,000 vehicles, by the end of 2015. RAV4 production will start in the factory as of 2016, on the other hand.
