RusAutoNews.Com - Ford Sollers has announced the launch of a new shift at its plant in Elabuga. The production of crossovers and commercial vehicles will be carried out at a six-days-a-week shift in the factory, as a result of increasing demand for models in the aforementioned segments in Russia, alongside expectations of further recovery in the Russian car market in 2018. The number of Ford Sollers staff in Tatarstan will go up to 2800 people with the launch of the additional shift.
The mass recruitment of staff for the introduction of the new shift has begun in October last year. A total number of 600 jobs has been created in Tatarstan. Most workers will be employed in all stages of automobile production: mechanical assemblers (MCP), operators of contact welding machines (ISS), drivers of tractors and loaders, pickers, painters, quality controllers.
The additional working day will help ease the pressure on production volumes, due to the considerably increasing demand for Ford crossovers and light commercial vehicles in Russia. The smart crossover, adapted to Russian conditions: Ford Kuga, the legendary 7-seater SUV Ford Explorer and Ford Transit light commercial vehicles are manufactured at the Elabuga plant. The demand for these models has more than doubled in 2017.
Ford Sollers predicts a recovery of 10-15% for the Russian car market in 2018, which will increase the demand for crossovers and SUVs even further.
